Program Head: Kai Vetter
Applied Nuclear Physics is a collaboration amongst scientists and students at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory headed by Kai Vetter, with the goal of advancing the applications of nuclear science and engineering concepts and technologies including radiation detection and imaging, sensor fusion, and data analytics. The work of ANP addresses outstanding questions in basic and applied research as well as nuclear security, radiological safety, and health. Our efforts through the ANP program leverage the unique opportunities provided by LBNL and UC Berkeley, combining research and the training of the next generation of researchers. Our work is supported by several offices in the Department of Energy, the Departments of Homeland Security and Defense, and the National Institute of Health.
